CTD samples of dissolved oxygen, salinity and reversing thermometer measurements collected on cruise D245 along Extended Ellett Line
Originator's Protocol for Data Acquisition and Analysis
Salinity samples were drawn from each Niskin bottle in 200 ml glass sample bottles and sealed with disposable plastic inserts and screw caps. Two Guildline Autosals, each fitted with a peristaltic sample pump were installed onboard and standardisation was obtained using IAPSO standard seawater batch number 35 N 1. Throughout the cruise, technical problems were encountered with both salinometers - these are described fully in the cruise report, pages 37 to 39.
Dissolved oxygen samples were drawn from each Niskin bottle. The Winkler whole bottle titration method with aperometric endpoint detection was used with equipment supplied by Metrohm, to analyse the samples onboard. Further details on analysis technique are in the cruise report, pages 39 to 41.
Temperature measurements were made for selected Niskin bottle on the CTD frame using SIS digital reversing thermometers.

Instrumentation Description
The samples were taken with a CTD frame with 24 position rosette and 24 Niskin bottles. The salinity analysis was performed using a Guildline Autosal 8400A bench salinometer and temperature measurements were made using Sensoren Instrumente Systeme (SiS) digital reversing thermometers attached to one or two Niskin bottles, for most casts.
